Mark your calendars: the dates for Avery Island/Jefferson Island Work Party Weekend 2010 will be Friday through Sunday, February 19-21, 2010.
E.A. McIlhenny set out his initial bamboo plantings at Avery Island “on the southern slope of the Prospect Hill Ridge” in April 1910; therefore, next year marks the 100th anniversary of this oldest grove of his. In celebration of the event, we are planning a bigger-than-ever party, and we hope you can join us!
Andy Ringle and Marler Spence had produced a history of McIlhenny's work with bamboo at Avery Island which contains great deal of useful information. The resultant paper can be downloaded from the following link: McIlhenny, Bamboo Pioneer
For information and registration: Registration Forms.
